The first look is a trend that has been increasingly popular over the past few wedding seasons. Although I do like to incorporate some traditional elements, I can see why couples are opting for a pre-ceremony moment together.
Here’s why a first look might be a good option for you:
- You have a tight schedule. Getting photos taken prior to the ceremony will allow more time afterwards. Keep in mind travel time if you have separate locations for your ceremony and reception.
- You have a large wedding party. The more people involved, the more time is needed for photos.
- You want to enjoy your cocktail hour. This is such a fun time to celebrate (and have something to eat!) with friends and family before the reception.
- You want to share that moment together, alone. Seeing each other for the first time is truly a special moment. Having a first look allows this to be more intimate and gives you a chance to soak it in. If tears are shed, you can also squeeze in some time to freshen up before the ceremony.
Regardless of what you decide, make sure to take some time for each other on your wedding day. It goes by so quickly and you want to enjoy it together as a couple.
